Tinjauan Maqasid Syariah terhadap Optimalisasi Green Zakat sebagai Instrumen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Abstract
The problems of poverty and environmental degradation require innovative solutions from various stakeholders. This study aims to identify the dimensions of the maqasid al-sharia values in optimising green zakat as an instrument for the Sustainable Development Goals. This qualitative study, conducted as a literature review, utilises data from various academic sources examining the relationship between zakat, sustainable development and environmental conservation. The findings indicate that green zakat is an innovative approach to zakat management that simultaneously integrates social, economic and environmental objectives. Green zakat can be realised through sustainable agriculture, the development of a circular economy, and various environmental conservation programmes. From the perspective of the maqashid al-sharia, green zakat is synergistic with the values of protecting religion (hifz al-din), life (hifz al-nafs), reason (hifz al-aql), wealth (hifz al-maal), progeny (hifz al-nasl), and the environment (hifz al-bi’ah). This research contributes to the assertion that the maqasid al-sharia can serve as a value-based foundation for innovative zakat management to address issues of poverty and the environment.
