Pergeseran Paradigma Studi Hadis di Kalangan Orientalis

Abstract
The study of Hadith among Orientalists has not remained static, but has undergone significant methodological transformation since the 19th century. This study aims to describe the shift in academic approaches to Hadith among Orientalists. This qualitative study, conducted as a literature review, employs a historical approach to the works of prominent Orientalists specializing in Hadith studies, including Ignaz Goldziher, Joseph Schacht, G.H.A. Juynboll, Harald Motzki, and Gregor Schoeler. Research findings indicate a paradigm shift in Hadith studies amongst Orientalists, moving from extreme scepticism towards a more balanced and historically contextualised, accommodative approach. This conclusion can be seen in methodological developments that have not only reshaped the academic understanding of Hadith amongst Orientalists, but have also opened up space for critical dialogue with the Islamic scholarly tradition. This research contributes to the potential for methodological integration between the Orientalists’ approach to Hadith studies and classical Hadith sciences in the development of contemporary Hadith studies
