Dialektika Hukum Islam dan Medis : Studi Pemikiran Ustadz Adi Hidayat tentang Program In Vitro Fertilization

Abstract
In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is one alternative programme for natural reproductive problems. This qualitative study describes the thoughts of Indonesian Muslim scholar Ustad Adi Hidayat on the legality of IVF programmes and the status of children born from such programmes. This study uses an analytical approach to data observed on YouTube (Audio Dakwah) containing explanations by Ustadz Adi Hidayat and relevant scientific literature. The results of the study show that IVF is permissible in the view of Ustadz Adi Hidayat as long as it does not conflict with the framework of maqasid syariah, especially the preservation of offspring, but it is also reinforced by various other maqasid principles, such as the preservation of religion, life, reason, and property. Meanwhile, the lineage of children born through IVF is determined to be that of biological children as long as the genetic material comes from a legally married couple and the embryo is implanted in the wife's own womb. This research contributes to the understanding that Islamic law is always accommodating and provides solutions to the dynamic problems of medical technology use.
